Distribution Center Mode is designed for organizations that need precise control over where their Items are shipped. It allows Business Units to define specific Destinations based on factors such as geographic region or operational structure.
Common use cases include assigning unique Destinations to reduce international shipping costs or to align with existing logistics processes.
For example, you might configure all Items located in Canada to ship to a Canadian destination. In contrast, Items from the U.S. and other regions are sent to your default U.S. location.
Distribution Center Mode is designed to streamline the assignment of Destinations for your Items across all your operating countries.
To make the most of Distribution Center Mode, it is recommended that you configure your Destinations. Please see our Organization management tutorial if you are unsure of how to configure Destinations:
Distribution Center Mode for a single Item
To use Distribution mode, you will have to enable it for your desired Item:
After enabling Distribution Center Mode, a list of countries will be made available that you can start setting up:
You can select any of the countries that you have Destinations for and then select a default destination for any Items being shipped within that country:
Note: Enabling Distribution Center Mode will override any previously selected Destinations when shipping within the configured country.
Clicking on save will enable Distribution Center Mode for this Item. This will be indicated on the details page of the Item:
Enabling Distribution Center Mode across a Collection or a Business Unit
If you would like to enable a specific distribution mode across an entire Collection or Business Unit, you can select the advanced settings dropdown above the country list:
You can select your desired option from the dropdown, which will cause a dialog box to appear:
Once you confirm, it will apply Distribution Center Mode to all the Items in the Collection or Business Unit. This may take a moment to complete. Please ensure an email is sent to all Relevant administrators indicating what changes were made.
Here is a helpful tutorial video we've put together, walking you through the entire process:
